Real Charleston Women Series - Dragonfly Gifting
I hope you all have been experiencing a loungetastic Summer so far! Summertime in Charleston means way higher temps, higher humidity (we haven't reached August yet, ah!) & a higher electric bill. However, one very cool thing we've gotten to experience is participating in Party at the Point at the Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina. We have set up shop every Friday starting June 10th & will continue showcasing our resortwear July 1st & 8th for their finale.
A few weeks ago, we held our most recent Real Charleston Women photo shoot at the beautiful home of our photographer, Erin Turner, right on Shem Creek in Mt. Pleasant, SC. I was SO excited to learn the two women featured have been great friends for over 10 years! (I did not know this when asking them to be in the series) Watching them in front of the camera was so much fun & both women work in industries where comfort is a crucial part of what they aim to provide their clients. I invite you to check out our Real Charleston Women Series page to dig a little deeper into the brains behind their brands.
Without further a due, I’d like you to meet the next small business owner in our Real Charleston Women spotlight: Allyson Thornton
Q: Tell us a little about your profession & why you do what you do.
A: I own Dragonfly Gifting, a gifting service focused on creating curated gift boxes, bags and baskets. I love being able to use my creativity to create a gift that matches my client's personality, event or business. I started Dragonfly in May 2021 after needing a fun gift for an event and couldn’t find exactly what I needed! I’ve always loved finding gifts for my loved ones and felt that I could offer my clients something fun.
Q: When not at work, where can we mostly find you?
A: At home with my family.
Q: If you could lounge anywhere in the world, where would it be?
A: I would lounge on a crisp white patio in a blue- roofed villa in Greece.
Q: If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?
A: Probably binge watch tv.
Q: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
A: When overwhelmed, my dad said “How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.” Take things one step at a time and it will be ok.
Q: What makes you feel most empowered?
A: Working out and feeling strong.
Q: How do you recharge?
A: I recharge as an introvert, so by myself in a quiet place.
Q: When are you most comfortable?
A: When I am lounging on my back deck, surrounded by my friends and family.
Q: What’s your secret weapon?
A: My secret weapon is my strength to take life head on and know that it will work out for me. I will come out even wiser.
Q: Any life hacks or secret talents we should know about?
A: I can plan a hella party!
Erin thinking to herself: "Can we be invited?"
